Industry Report February 2019

In February, the national vehicle production was 32,662 units, 120.6% more than January and 16.4% below the performance of the same month in 2018.

The sector exported 19,431 vehicles, 162.5% above the volume recorded in January and 1% above what was recorded in February of the previous year.

In wholesale sales, the sector marketed 30,404 units, which showed a 1.2% improvement compared to January and a 58.8% drop compared to February 2018.


The February Report of the Association of Automotive Makers (ADEFA) reflects that the automotive terminals produced 32,662 vehicles (cars and utility vehicles), which means, it recorded a 120.6% improvement compared to the previous month and a decline of 16.4% in relation to February 2018 when 39,085 units were produced.

In the first two months, the production was 47,465 units, 22.1% less than the volume produced between January and February last year.

Keeping close watch on the market fall and its impact on the industry, from ADEFA the situation is monitored on a continuous basis and the end of the first quarter is expected to project the behavior the year will have. Meanwhile, work is also continuing together with the government on measures that contribute to improve the competitiveness conditions and the access to export markets. 

The automakers exported 19,431 vehicles between cars and light utility vehicles in February, reflecting an increase of 162.5% in relation to the volume exported in January and a 1% progress in comparison to the same period last year.

With the partial data of February, the sector exported 26,834 units in the first two months of the year, which means, 9.5% less in its year-on-year comparison.

Finally, the monthly statistics indicated that the sales to dealers stood at 30,404 units, that is, they had an improvement of 1.2% with respect to January and a 58.8% drop according to the performance of the same month last year, when they delivered 73,733 Units to the dealer network.

Between January and February, the wholesale sales stood at 60,442 units, 56.3% less than the 138,185 units marketed in the first two months of 2018.
